Clickfree Troubleshooting steps for Android

Here are the Troubleshooting steps for Android

It might be that we can fix the issue with some important information so you can check on how to fix and use this product perfectly.

We recommend you to follow the basic troubleshooting steps below:

Step 1: Enable OTG Setting

The first step involves enabling the OTG (On-The-Go) setting on your Android phone. This is crucial because for most Android devices, USB peripherals may not function correctly unless the OTG setting is enabled. Here’s how you can do it:

  1. Open your phone’s Settings.
  2. Use the search bar at the top and type OTG.
  3. Tap on the OTG option that appears and enable it.

Note: If your phone doesn’t show OTG results, please proceed to the next steps below:

Step 2: Check App Permissions

Sometimes, apps like Clickfree may not work as expected due to certain permissions being disabled in your settings. Here’s how you can check and allow necessary permissions:

  1. Go to your phone’s Settings.
  2. Scroll down and look for Apps.
  3. Tap on Clickfree within the list of apps.
  4. Look for permissions.
  5. Ensure that permissions for camerasphotosvideos, and contacts are allowed.
  6. Once done, return to the home screen.

After doing the above steps, try to plug the Clickfree back into your Android phone, tap allow on the prompts. Then the App will automatically launch. The USB indicator on the upper right-hand side shows Green and a prompt on the bottom part shows “USB Connected”. If it still does not work, please proceed to the next steps.

1: Remove and Reinsert the SD Card

  • Do not plug in the Clickffree on your phone yet. Instead, remove and reinsert the SD Card located at the USB Tip.

2: Check Your Phone Case

  • Ensure you do not have any thick-protective case or cover over your phone. This is to make sure that the backup device is properly plugged in. We also suggest that you clean the tip of the Clickffree device with a tissue before plugging it in.

3: Reinstall the Clickfree App

  • If the above steps didn’t work, please uninstall and reinstall the Clickfree App. While reinstalling, please make sure you give the permissions for the app to access Media and contacts.

4: Restart Your Phone

  • Restart your phone by powering it off and then back on.

5: Let Your Phone Rest

  • After the device/phone is restarted, please allow the device/phone to “rest” for about 1 minute. This allows your phone to load all the applications supporting services.

6: Plugin the Clickffree

  • Plugin the Clickffree back to your phone and wait for the device to be recognized by your phone. Once the App has launched, continue waiting for an additional 5-15sec until there is a green bar that flashes across the bottom that reports “USB Connected”.

Once that’s done, you can try to use the features of the Clickfree App:

  • GREEN BUTTON to back up everything.
  • Backup Photos and Videos if you want to backup photos and videos only.
  • VIEW BACKUP STORAGE if you want to view the backup files.
  • Backup Contacts if you want to backup contacts.
  • Scan Photos you can scan old photos and colorize it
  • USE Camera to capture photos and record videos that will be saved straight to the Clickfree device
